Package Shuts Down Part Of San Francisco Terminal

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Officials at San Francisco International Airport have shut down part of a terminal after a suspicious package was found.

Airport spokesman Mike McCarron says a bag screener came across the package as it went through an X-ray machine in Terminal One around 11:30 a.m. Friday.

KTVU-TV reports ( ) that one person has been detained.

A bomb squad is currently at the scene, and the boarding area for Delta Airlines flights has been evacuated.

McCarron says passengers are being redirected to other boarding areas, then bussed to their Delta flights. He says some flights have been delayed because of the lockdown.

San Francisco police and a Delta spokesperson did not immediately return calls.
