BEIJING (AP) — At least 15 people were killed Saturday when tourist bus plunged off a highway into a ravine in northern China, a state news agency reported.
The official Xinhua News Agency says the accident happened Saturday morning when the bus, carrying 33 people, crashed on a highway in Shanxi province. Xinhua says the bus was not full, but it did not immediately give any further information.
State television showed video of the crumbled bus at the bottom of the rocky ravine.
Road safety is a serious problem in China, with many accidents caused by poorly maintained roads and bad driving habits.
