SYDNEY (AP) — Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has announced a reshuffling of her Cabinet following a bitter leadership challenge from her predecessor.

Gillard won an internal party vote against predecessor and former Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd earlier this week. Since then, she has been struggling to reunite her fractured party and Cabinet.

On Friday, Gillard axed Emergency Management Minister Robert McClelland from her Cabinet. McClelland had been one of Rudd's supporters during the leadership challenge.

Gillard said former New South Wales state premier Bob Carr would replace Rudd as foreign minister.
