ERLANGER, Ky. (AP) — Officials say a major hub for Delta Air Lines that was closed after a violent storm blew debris on its runways is now back open.
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport spokeswoman Barb Schempf says one of three runways reopened Friday evening. She says limbs from trees blocked the runways, causing the airport to close for about an hour.
She says officials are working as quickly as possible to get the other two runways open.
The storms touched off a series of tornado warnings that sent people scurrying for cover in portions of western and central Kentucky and dropping hail through the northern parts of the state.
Schempf said flights were delayed while others were cancelled and suggested that anyone flying check with their airline before going to the airport.
