Issue Not Aired In Rutgers Webcam Trial: Suicide

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — A Rutgers University student's suicide sits only at the edge of the hate-crime trial of his former roommate.

Tyler Clementi committed suicide in September 2010, days after Dharun Ravi (dah-ROON' RAH'-vee) allegedly used a webcam to spy on his encounter with another man.

Ravi is charged with bias intimidation, invasion of privacy and other counts.

But because he's not charged with a role in Clementi's death, Judge Glenn Berman has been cautious about how much can be said about Clementi's suicide.

But it has come up, including from the other man in the video who testified that he expected to see Clementi again. But he committed suicide the next day.

More testimony is expected Monday.
