Mother: Children Survived Being Sucked From Home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The mother of three young North Carolina children who survived a tornado says the kids were apparently sucked out of their home without suffering any serious injuries.

Neither Latonya Stevens nor her kids remember exactly what happened, but the children were asleep in their rooms when the twister hit late Friday. It swept away most of their home's second floor, and the children turned up outside on the ground.

A 7-year-old boy was tossed about 100 feet over a fence and landed near a major interstate. His 3-year-old sister was found in the front yard. And a 4-year-old turned up in a neighbor's yard.

The kids had only cuts and bruises — and a story to tell for the rest of their lives.
