ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Officials with the around-the-world yacht racing team that was battered by a monstrous wave off the Northern California coast over the weekend says work is being done that would get the boat back in the race this month.

Juan Coetzer, skipper of the Geraldton Western Australia, says crews are working on getting the yacht repaired in time to resume the race from San Francisco Bay on April 14.

Isabel Hokken, a spokeswoman for the team, also updated the condition of the injured crewmembers.

Hokken says 50-year-old Jane Hitchins suffered cracked ribs and vertebra in her lower back and a ruptured spleen. Her injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

Twenty-nine-year-old Nik Brbora was discharged from a hospital Monday night after suffering a pelvic strain.
