COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Military officials say the three soldiers killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan were from Ohio. Several others from the state were seriously wounded.

The Ohio National Guard says soldiers from the guard's 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team were attacked Wednesday in Maimanah, the capital of Faryab province.

The guard says the unit includes soldiers from across Ohio.

The attack by a suicide bomber on a motorcycle killed at least 13 people at a park in a relatively peaceful area of northern Afghanistan on Wednesday. It was of an increase in violence at the start of the spring fighting season.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
