KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Afghan police say seven civilians have died after a fuel tanker overturned and caught fire in southern Afghanistan.

Kandahar provincial police chief Gen. Abdul Razaq says three other civilians were seriously wounded in the incident Friday morning in Panjwai district.

The Taliban claimed they fired a rocket at the fuel tanker, causing it to explode. But Razaq says no rockets were fired.

He says the tanker caught on fire after it overturned and that a passing car also was set ablaze.
