Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour defended his call for Todd Akin to drop out of the race for the Missouri Senate, telling Bloomberg Businessweek that Democrats want Akin to stay in the race so it’ll be a smoother ride for Claire McCaskill.
Barbour said he can’t pick Akin “out of a line-up with the Spice Girls,” but “I just don’t want us having Harry Reid’s favorite Republican running against Claire McCaskill.”
