There were many highlights from yesterday’s inauguration: The event hosted its first Latino and openly gay poet, Richard Blanco; the nation’s first black president was sworn in again; and Beyoncé sang the national anthem. But none of those events compared to the real headline news of the day: Michelle Obama’s bangs.

The president joked about the first lady’s chic haircut, saying, “And to address the most significant event of this weekend, I love her bangs,” and the media went wild:
