Alarm clock of the future: Wake up to the sound and smell of bacon

Oscar Mayer's Institute for the Advancement of Bacon (yes it exists) released a sizzling app and bacon-filled video

"A bacon awakening beyond your wildest imagination," is the tag line for Oscar Mayer's latest in ridiculous (yet effective) marketing ploys. From the company that brought you Lunchables and the Wienermobile comes Wake Up & Smell the Bacon, an iPhone app and special Oscar Mayer add-on that diffuses the sweet smell of crackling bacon into your room. While the app is available for download now, the special bacon-scent-emanating attachment will not be available for purchase. According to the Los Angeles Times the app:

[F]eatures a skillet clock and the sound of sizzling bacon. But if you want the entire bacon-alarm clock package, you have to apply online, by April 4, for a chance to win one of the limited-edition devices. Winners will receive their devices six to eight weeks after the applications close.

According to the phantasmagorical video below -- where bacon falls like rain, and "a rose by any other name" smells like bacon -- the scent of sizzling fat "will guide you to the greatest awakening."
