This year marked the first International Landscape Photographer of the Year competition, and the winners are absolutely stunning.

Australian photographer Christian Fletcher won the Photographer of the Year award for his series of four photos examining the impacts of industry on the landscape. "My aim was to produce striking images from the air that had an industrial theme," he said. "I am concerned about the path we are heading down. By showing what is beyond the view of most of the public, I hoped to create a conversation about why we are heading down that path and if it is necessary... As a photographer I feel it is my duty to capture the world we live in, be it pristine wilderness or industrial oblivion. Both are inspiring in a photographic sense but only one is sustainable."

The five contest judges considered over 2200 entries. Here are some of our favorite award winning pictures, and if you're craving more natural beauty, the top 101 photos are available here.
