CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Authorities say the search for a missing University of Virginia student remains in full force even as they have charged a suspect in her disappearance.

Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo said late Tuesday that authorities obtained a felony arrest warrant on a charge of abduction with intent to defile against Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr.

Police say they believe the 32-year-old was the last person seen with 18-year-old Hannah Graham, who disappeared Sept. 13.

Longo stressed at a news conference that they're continuing to search for the sophomore from northern Virginia.

Police also are looking for Matthew, who was last seen Saturday when he stopped by the police station to ask for a lawyer. Police say he sped away afterward, losing officers who had him under surveillance.
