Sarah Koenig created a veritable sensation this year with her true-crime podcast "Serial," which investigates whether Adnan Syed, a Baltimore man convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend 15 years ago, actually committed the crime.

"Serial" deals with important subjects of guilt, innocence, and inequities in the American criminal justice system, but "Saturday Night Live" opted to spoof the podcast last night in a decidedly less weighty manner.

Hilariously mimicking Koenig's speech patterns and mannerisms, "SNL's" Cecily Strong attempted to unravel the mystery of Santa Claus, played by Kyle Mooney. How is it possible, Strong's Koenig wonders, for a 1,000 year-old elf to deliver presents around the world in a single night?

Watch "Serial" do its best to get to the bottom of this head-scratcher:
