"He refuses to listen to reason": Trevor Noah delivers the Mitch McConnell takedown you need to see

"He's saying, give the people a voice, but he's silencing the one voice (Obama's) the people chose"

"Daily Show" host Trevor Noah last night talked about President Obama's nominee to fill the late Justice Scalia's vacancy, Merrick Garland.

"That guy is so adorable," Noah said, responding to video of Garland's emotional press conference Wednesday. "Next to him, even sweet Ruth Bader Ginsburg seems like an asshole."

Noah went on to note Senate Republicans' immovable opposition to even a moderate Obama nominee like Garland. GOP big-wigs like Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee Orrin Hatch have maintained their intention to block any nominee — an intention they've justified by incorrectly calling Obama a lame duck president.

Of course, President Obama didn't spend weeks deliberating a nominee only to throw some hack to the GOP wolves. Garland is perhaps the most qualified nominee alive.

Just ask Hatch, who in 1997 touted Garland as "highly qualified to sit on the D.C. circuit. His intelligence and his scholarship cannot be questioned."

Meanwhile, less than twenty years later, McConnell is prepared to deny a top-notch nominee to "give the people a voice in filling this vacancy."

"He's saying, give the people a voice, but he's silencing the one voice (Obama's) the people chose," Noah responded to McConnell. "He's so dug in on his partisanship, he refuses to listen to reason."
