Texas Senator and Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz reacted, at first, as most did upon learning about the coordinated terror attacks in Brussels this morning:
Our hearts break for the men and women of Brussels this morning: https://t.co/Z3zl8ArMCG

Of course, if one follows the link to the Facebook post, it quickly becomes apparent that these terrorist attacks merely afford the candidate the opportunity to discuss his favorite subject — himself — which he also makes plain in his later tweets:
Radical Islam is at war with us. For over 7 years we have had a president who refuses to acknowledge this reality https://t.co/oeEKpWKbN6

That ends on January 20, 2017, when I am sworn in as president: https://t.co/FRA5WTKjgP

We will name our enemy — radical Islamic terrorism. And we will defeat it. https://t.co/Z7YTgUg3AA

Because in its hour of need, Belgium requires nothing more urgently than pot-shots at President Barack Obama and empty promises from a presidential candidate whose solution to the global war on terror is to “carpet bomb” Islamic State fighters, no matter what country they happen to be in.
