"These attacks are garbage": Ted Cruz breaks silence on Enquirer allegations, accuses Donald Trump's "henchmen" of planting story

Cruz went so far as to counter-allege Trump leaked "completely false" story to "friends at the National Enquirer"

Ted Cruz has addressed allegations made by the National Enquirer that he has had at least five extramarital affairs.

During a last-minute news conference in Wisconsin, Cruz gave a prepared denouncement (later posted to his Facebook page) of the infidelity rumors, which he called, "completely false."

Cruz blamed the attacks on a conspiratorial effort by Trump "to enlist his friends at the National Enquirer and his political henchmen to do his bidding," which he said, "shows you that there is no low Donald won’t go."

Cruz's counter-allegation that Trump leaked the story to the Enquirer is not unfounded, considering Trump's reported "ties" to the tabloid.

Update: Trump issued his own response, via his Facebook, in which he maintained, "I have nothing to do with the National Enquirer and unlike Lyin’ Ted Cruz I do not surround myself with political hacks and henchman and then pretend total innocence."
