"Late Show" host Stephen Colbert last night devoted a solid chunk of airtime to Ted Cruz's Wednesday announcement that Carly Fiorina would be his running mate.

"That is bold," Colbert said of Cruz's decision to name a vice presidential running mate nearly three months prior to the Republican National Convention, when such an announcement is traditionally made -- by the party's nominee, which even in a contested convention, likely won't be Cruz.

"Ted Cruz has some serious huevos rancheros to announce a Vice President at this stage," Colbert continued. "And Fiorina was clearly honored to accept this important job that will never exist."

And the moment we've all (just me?) been waiting for -- Colbert's reaction to Fiorina's oh-so-creepy singing shoutout to Cruz's daughters: "It's like Disney gave the wicked stepmother her own song."
