The online reaction to the deaths of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge has been more measured than one would expect — almost as if a fatigue has set in. Anonymous, of all organizations, swiftly pointed out why:
Which is not to say that there still isn’t outrage about what happened to Philando Castile:
Y'all notice the @NRA hasn't said a damn thing about #PhilandoCastile shooting. He had a concealed gun permit.

I, too, am angry tonight. I was angry last night. I feel myself angry at this country often these days. But my anger does not sit alone.

This is not acceptable. One more life taken. One more family heartbroken. Another fatherless child. Accountability. #PhilandoCastile

Where's the @NRA to defend a licensed gun-carrier such as #PhilandoCastile? Or does the Second Amendment only apply to white people?

Saying #PhilandoCastile was "law-abiding" tacitly justifies the murder of those who aren't. Law is a terrible metric for moral judgment.

If you can do everything right, comply with all commands, & still be killed…
What hope do we have for survival? #PhilandoCastile

Or that people will stop being angry about the death of Alton Sterling:
White people, every Black person can be harassed, assaulted & killed by cops for no reason & w/ no hope of justice. Just FYI. #AltonSterling

Sadly, this could not be more true:
This video is horrifying, and so will be the effort to spin it #AltonSterling https://t.co/W9gOXDxmwl

Nor could this:
So to you petition signers, y'all on "Hmmm well maybe Jesse had a point"? status yet or still nah? #AltonSterling
