"Salon Talks" host Carrie Sheffield sat down with Jonathan Goldsmith, best known for portraying "the most interesting man in the world" in a hugely popular Dos Equis ad campaign. Goldsmith is now promoting his latest project, True.Ink, a new outdoor adventure magazine, of which he's editor emeritus.

"If you ever want to be an interesting person, you've got to get interested in things," Goldsmith said. Of his hyperbolic ad character, he added, "I think everybody wants to be like him, including me."

Goldsmith — who moved to Vermont from California five-plus years prior — said he's "still studying" acting.

"This is my advice to young actors — take a course in commercial acting," he said. "You have to instantly make an adjustment and a commitment to it, each time. Each take it's totally different. It helped me more than anything else I've ever done as far as preparing for the good fortune I was visited with."

You can follow Goldsmith on Twitter, Snapchat (username: stayinteresting), and Instagram.
