Hillary Clinton has not accepted Donald Trump's apology for his admission that he engaged in sexual assault.
"If this were just about one video, maybe what he’s saying tonight would be understandable, but everyone can draw their own conclusions at this point about whether or not the man in the video or the man on the stage respects women," Clinton said in Sunday night's second presidential debate. "But he never apologizes for anything to anyone."
Later that evening, Fox News host Megyn Kelly asked campaign spokesperson Katrina Pierson about Clinton's statements and the bombshell tape leaked Friday.
"She's saying yes, the women is a big issue for him, but where was his apology for the Khan family, where was his apology for Judge Curiel and all the others; you heard her list," Kelly said.
Pierson was even more prepared than Trump.
"Megyn, I'll remind everyone that Mr. Trump did give a statement early on saying that he had said some things that he regretted," she began.
"It was generic," Kelly told Pierson, cutting her off.
That's when it became clear Pierson doesn't realize Trump is causing his own problems.
"It was very generic because there was a number of things that he has done in fighting, because he has been fighting... against both sides... [against] establishment.. [and] against the media and he says even when you have those contentious debates you say things you regret and he did," Pierson said.
There's just one problem with that theory.
"It wasn't a debate when he attacked Judge Curiel and said 'he can't decide my case because he's of Hispanic heritage,'" Kelly pointed out. "[Trump] was saying because [Curiel] has Hispanic parents and Trump wants to build a wall, he couldn't get a fair hearing before this judge... he was asked repeatedly and he said he's a Mexican which he wasn't, he's from Indiana... Her point is it's not just women; he's said so many controversial things."
Kelly then asked Pierson what she thought about Trump's "locker-room banter," as he called the conversations on the tape.
"Look, I have two brothers," Pierson said in response, chalking the content up to "entertainment culture."
"This truly was two men who had what they thought was a private conversation talking about an attractive woman," Pierson continued. "l don't know what [my brothers] talk [about in private]... because when I walk into the room they stop those discussions...."
