Former House speaker Newt Gingrich is apparently still salty over not being selected as Donald Trump’s running mate and has decided to publicly air his grievances in the middle of the Republican nominee's campaign implosion.

Top Trump supporter Gingrich revealed on Thursday that he was “mystified” by the Trump campaign’s reaction to leaked audio of the GOP nominee boasting of groping women’s genitalia. During a publicity tour for his new book, Gingrich called Trump’s strategy “a tragedy for the country.”

Gingrich, who once defended a sexist Trump attack on a former Miss Universe by saying she gained weight, argued on Fox News on Thursday that Trump reverts to a small figure who gets sucked into petty fights.

“There’s a big Trump and a little Trump. The little Trump is frankly pathetic,” Gingrich explained on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings With Maria.”

Evoking Trump's slam on GOP primary rival Marco Rubio as "Little Marco," Gingrich pointed to Trump’s lashing out at current House Speaker Paul Ryan as further evidence for his two Trumps theory.

“I mean, he’s mad over not getting a phone call?” Gingrich said mocking Trump.

"I think he ought to quit tweeting by himself, period," he said in another interview on WYNY on Wednesday.

"I don't think you want a president of the United States who randomly tweets. You want somebody who thinks it through, has staff check it out. I mean — I very much am opposed to this 3 a.m. baloney."
