What was the context?
After Trump officially announced Ben Carson nomination as HUD Secretary, House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi said in a statement that Carson was a "disconcerting and disturbingly unqualified choice." And following the pattern set by the soon-to-be Tweeter-in-chief, Huckabee shared his unfiltered opinions with his faithful Twitter following.
Is there any merit to this claim?
While it is true that Carson lived part of his childhood in government housing in Detroit, his life-long career and training as a neurosurgeon have given him no experience in dealing with such a big bureaucratic machine as the HUD is. Developing, creating and expanding housing opportunities for low-income families has little to do with surgery. But don't take my word for it, take HIS. A few weeks ago, his friend and spokesperson, Armstrong Williams, said that Carson wouldn't be taking a cabinet position because "he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency." So which one was it, Mr. Huckabee, was Carson being racist or just dumb?
Is this the first time he has come out with a load of bullshit?
Oh no. Huckabee is a preacher of fine bullshit. Among his most famous dumps, there's the time he likened abortion to the Holocaust or the time he argued that the real movement in America should be Male Lives Matter.
