2017 Oscar nominations: “La La Land” ties record for most nominations, no repeat of #OscarsSoWhite

The nods are out and "La La Land" cleaned up. "Hidden Figures," "Moonlight," "Fences" get Best Picture nods too

On Tuesday morning, the nominates for the 89th Academy Awards were announced. The front-runner is “La La Land,” which tied “Titanic” for the most nominations, with 14. Damien Chazelle’s crowd-pleasing Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling-led musical is in the running for best director, best original screenplay, best original score and two nominations for best original song — “City of Stars” and “Audition (The Fools Who Dream”). Stone and Gosling are each nominated for best actress and actor, respectively.

Here’s a list of nominees in other notable categories.

Best Picture: “Arrival,” “Hacksaw Ridge,” “Hidden Figures,” “Lion,” “Moonlight,” “Fences,” “Hell or High Water,”La La Land,” “Manchester by the Sea”

Best Director: Denis Villeneuve (“Arrival”), Mel Gibson (“Hacksaw Ridge”), Damien Chazelle (“La La Land”), Kenneth Lonergan (“Manchester by the Sea”) and Barry Jenkins (“Moonlight”)

Best Actor: Casey Afflek (“Manchester by the Sea”), Andrew Garfield (“Hacksaw Ridge”), Ryan Gosling (“La La Land”), Viggo Mortensen (“Captain Fantastic”) and Denzel Washington (“Fences”)

Best Actress: Isabelle Huppert (“Elle”), Ruth Negga (“Loving”), Natalie Portman (“Jackie”), Emma Stone (“La La Land”) and Meryl Streep (“Florence Foster Jenkins”)

Best Supporting Actor: Mahershala Ali (“Moonlight”), Jeff Bridges (“Hell or High Water”), Lucas Hedges (“Manchester by the Sea”), Dev Patel (“Lion”) and Michael Shannon (“Nocturnal Animals”)

Best Supporting Actress: Viola Davis (“Fences”), Naomie Harris (“Moonlight”), Nicole Kidman (“Lion”), Octavia Spencer (“Hidden Figures”) and Michelle Williams (“Manchester by the Sea”)

Best Original Screenplay: “Hell or High Water,” “La La Land,” “The Lobster,” “Manchester by the Sea” and “20th Century Women”

Best Adapted Screenplay: “Arrival,” “Fences,” “Hidden Figures,” “Lion” and “Moonlight”

“Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda takes one step closer to the coveted EGOT status (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award-winner) with a Best Original Song nod for “How Far I’ll Go” from Disney’s “Moana.”

Unlike the last two rounds of nominations, the 2017 Academy Awards will apparently not be #OscarsSoWhite.

The winners will be announced Sunday, Feb. 26. Jimmy Kimmel will host the telecast.
