White House Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah, a former Republican National Committee employee, wasn't always peddling President Donald Trump's propaganda. During the 2016 election cycle, he actually wanted to destroy Trump.

According to New York, during the 2016 election cycle, Shah "sent an email from his personal account to Andrew Hemming, a senior RNC researcher, seeking anti-Trump opposition research."

In messages obtained by the publication, Shah said he was “kinda enjoying" the fallout from the "Access Hollywood" tape, which represented "some justice" against Trump. "I honestly don’t think it’s the worst thing he’s done but he somehow got passes for the other acts,” Shah added. He then called Trump "a deplorable."

Sources say Shah's department at the White House continues to be populated by staffers with negative feelings about Trump. One source went so far as to say the communication and press teams are filled with "people who loathe the president."
