On Tuesday evening, Rep. Steve King, R-) caused a stir when he endorsed Faith Goldy for Mayor of Toronto:

Faith Goldy is an outspoken Canadian white nationalist. She has claimed that Canada is facing "white genocide," has appeared on a podcast for the neo-Nazi website The Daily Stormer, recited the white supremacist "14 Words" ("We must secure the existence of our people and a future for WHITE children"), and proclaimed she "salutes" the white nationalists who marched in Charlottesville and murdered a woman in a vehicle-ramming attack. Goldy has previously worked as a journalist for the right-wing Canadian website The Rebel, but was fired for her extremist views.

Goldy's platform calls for shipping "all illegal migrants from Toronto’s shelter system by bus to the Prime Minister’s official residence, or the nearest jurisdiction that will take them," as well as establishing a "special research desk" that will monitor the finances of Toronto's Islamic centers. She is currently polling at 6 percent.

While King's endorsement of an overt white nationalist is disgusting, it is completely in character for him, as he has repeatedly expressed white nationalist views himself.

King has previously stated that most Mexican-Americans are drug mules with "calves the size of cantaloupes." He called a woman who was invited to sit with Michelle Obama at a State of the Union Address a "deportable." He is obsessed with ensuring the population of America remains majority-white, proclaiming that "We can't restore civilization with somebody else's babies" and warning that the population should be more "homogeneous." He has also endorsed "The Camp of the Saints," a racist 1973 novel depicting hordes of nonwhite invaders led by a feces-eating warlord who destroys Europe.

King's Democratic congressional opponent in Iowa's 4th District is former baseball player J.D. Scholten. The district is extremely conservative, but the sparse polling that has been done shows Scholten within 6 to 10 points of King.
