It can’t get much simpler than this; toast is toast. Yet, it still comes down to the right ingredients and the right equipment. You can make toast with a toaster, but real avocado toast is tastiest when cooked in the skillet.

Avocado toast seems easy but is incidentally so filling, creamy, and healthy at the same time. There are so many possible variants suited for each time of the day.

RECIPE: AVOCADO TOAST WITH CHILI FLAKES AND CHIA SEEDS

  • 4 slices brown bread
  • 1 avocado
  • Olive oil to taste
  • Chili flakes to taste
  • 2 tsp chia seeds
  • Coarse sea salt to taste

Use a frying pan or a grill pan. Apply olive oil to both sides of the bread and grill or fry it (flipping it every now and again) until the toast is brown with dark edges. Sourdough bread is best used for this recipe because of its sponge-like texture and ability to become crunchy on the outside while staying soft on the inside. You can also use butter instead of olive oil. Meanwhile, slice an avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh of the avocado. Mash this finely in a bowl using a fork. Spread the avocado mixture on warm toast, and sprinkle with olive oil, chili flakes, chia seeds, and coarse sea salt. Within five minutes you will have a delicious, creamy toast with lots of flavor and superfoods!
