As summer winds down, it’s time to change things up when it comes to what you’re wearing each day - shorts and t-shirts are no longer going to cut it as the weather begins to change. If you’re looking to change up your closet for a new season, you’re in luck, because there are plenty of new fall fashion trends to experiment with.

Whether you want to wear something classic and timeless, or something more modern and trendy, there’s a piece out there you’re bound to love. Here are a few of the biggest fall fashion trends you can expect to see this season, as well as some pieces you can purchase to upgrade your own look.

Plaid Pants

Ditch your jeans for something a little more streamlined. A pair of plaid pants look good with a crisp button down shirt for the office, but can also be dressed down a bit with a casual pair of shoes and a basic tee. These Milano Fit Multi-Plaid Trousers from Brooks Brothers work for the workday or the weekend.

A Bomber Jacket

The best kind of fall jacket is one that keeps you warm enough on chilly days, but isn’t so heavy that it feels suffocating when the temps are higher than normal. A bomber jacket like this Lucky Brand Heritage Bomber fits the bill. It’s versatile, comfortable, and ideal for unpredictable weather.

Leopard Print

It might not be a print you gravitate towards on a regular basis, but leopard is huge for fall for both men and women, and it can be fun to play around with it. If you’re unsure about the trend but feeling intrigued, this Original Man Animal Print Panel T-Shirt from boohooMAN is the right place to start: the print is there, but it isn’t overwhelming.

Puffer Jacket

A puffer jacket is another fall staple when it comes to outerwear. This Michael Kors Quilted Taffeta Puffer Jacket is lightweight enough to work for fall’s indecisve temperatures. The neutral navy blue color will go with almost anything, and with some added layers, it can even work for the beginning of winter.

A Long Scarf

Long scarves are a big fall trend that will carry you through winter, so they’re worth spending a little extra on. Opt for a versatle one in shades that will match your outerwear so that you can get the most use out of it. This cashmere scarf is available in almost 10 colors and is incredibly soft and cozy, and will bring a nice mix of colors to any neutral jacket.

Statement Sweaters

Forget about your boring basic sweaters this fall and try something a little more bold. Sweaters that feature interesting patterns and pops of color are going to be big this season, so have fun with your style and branch out a bit. This Bold Stripe Sweater from Perry Ellis is the perfect place to start, as it’s not too in-your-face, but still stands out.

Corduroy

Whether you’re opting for a corduroy jacket, sneakers, or a pair of pants, you really can’t go wrong - the fabric is likely going to be everywhere this fall. These corduroy pants from prAna are a best seller for a reason: there are several basic shades to choose from, they fit comfortably, and they’re versatile enough to be dressed up or down.

Sherpa Jacket

Another trendy piece of outerwear for this fall is the sherpa jacket. This Coleman Sherpa Fleece Jacket from Sierra Trading Post doubles as a coat on chilly days and a sweatshirt when you’re just lounging around the house. It’s super soft, very comfortable, and will leave you feeling perfectly cozy.
