Taylor Swift announced that she’s engaged to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce on Tuesday.
Swift revealed the engagement via a photoshoot shared to Instagram. The photo set shows Kelce kneeling in a garden and the couple embracing, as well as a detail shot of Swift’s cushion-cut diamond ring.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift wrote.
While details about the engagement are not yet known, experts have weighed in on the ring using the available photos.
Speaking to Brides.com, Benjamin Khordipour of Estate Diamond Jewelry said the ring was “a throwback to the Victorian Era, with the beautiful, delicate and decorative gold work.”
“The ring was handcrafted in 18k yellow gold and the center diamond is set with needle point prongs that perfectly match the antique style. Smaller diamonds and hand-engravings adorn the shoulders of her setting,” Khordipour told the outlet, before estimating that the ring’s value is somewhere north of half a million dollars.
Kelce and Swift began dating in September 2023. The future Hall of Famer attended a show on Swift’s Eras tour and made an unsuccessful attempt to pass Swift his phone number in the form of a friendship bracelet. He related the story of his botched hand-off on the podcast he hosts with his brother, “New Heights.” Word got to Swift, and they were soon spotted together at Chiefs games.
Swift’s worldwide Eras tour continued, but she became a fixture at Chiefs games whenever possible, bringing along a posse of famous friends to hang with the Kelce family in their Arrowhead Stadium box seats. She was on hand in February of last year when the Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in five seasons.
Kelce returned the favor by appearing onstage with Swift during a London tour stop, lending a hand during Swift’s performance of “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.” Swift announced her 12th album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on an episode of the Kelce brothers’ podcast earlier this month.
