For each question, respondents chose among “not too likely” (1 point), “somewhat likely” (2 points) and “very likely” (3 points).

When really angry or annoyed do you:

1. Try to act as though nothing happened?

2. Keep it to yourself?

3. Apologize even though you are right?

4. Get it off your chest?

5. Talk to a friend or relative?

6. Take it out on others?

7. Blame someone else?

8. Get tense or worried?

9. Get a headache?

10. Feel weak?

11. Feel depressed?

12. Get nervous or shaky?

Those with high scores on questions 1-3 are categorized as “Anger/In”

Those with high scores on questions 4 and 5 exhibit “Anger Discussion” (the “healthier alternative”)

Those with high scores on questions 6 and 7 are categorized as “Anger/Out”

Those with high scores on questions 8-12 have strong “Anger Symptoms” (exhibit signs of unhealthy anger management).
