“It’s not all about standing up for yourself and being strong,” author and leadership expert Rachel Simmons, who studies adolescent girls, admitted on “Salon Talks.” In her latest book, “Enough As She Is," the New York Times best-selling author discusses overcoming the impossible standards of success that have been set for young women.

“The good news is that parents can do this with their daughters and say listen nobody’s crossed that finish line. Nobody is perfect at being good to themselves, but we’re going to try together” Simmons said. Watch the video above to learn what parents can do to help girls learn self-compassion.
