A federal judge has ordered Ohio’s Republican Secretary of State to appear in court after he refused to comply with the judge’s mandate that the state allow early voting.

Judge Peter Economus set a hearing for September 13, and in his order wrote that “The Court ORDERS that Defendant Secretary of State Jon Husted personally attend the hearing.”

Earlier this week, Husted¬†wrote¬†to the state Board of Elections that the expanded hours would “only serve to confuse voters” and he refused to comply with them.

The court restored in-person early voting after Husted restricted the hours that voters could go to the polling booths.
