Robert Lopez is the twelfth EGOT ever

Whoopi, Rita -- and now Robert Lopez!

Winning the best original song Oscar for "Let It Go," the pivotal song from "Frozen," Robert Lopez became the twelfth person to win a competitive Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony -- the feat commonly known as an "EGOT."

In so doing, Lopez joins the likes of Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, Mike Nichols, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Lopez won his Emmys for the TV show "Wonder Pets" (two Daytime Emmys, but they still count!), a Grammy for his work on "The Book of Mormon," and three Tonys for "Mormon" and "Avenue Q."

As for the next person to join Lopez? Kate Winslet's a Broadway show away, or Cynthia Nixon a good big-screen supporting role -- but the very best thing about the EGOT is how interestingly random it is, the sign of both career success on many fronts and good luck. Lopez's next contemporary will be someone we wouldn't expect, and surely won't join him for a while.
