Her dad says she's just happy she's got a "real job" to fall back on.

Lady Gaga, aka Stefani Germanotta, was named creative director for "specialty products" at Polaroid. The two idiosyncratic icons are unveiling their partnership at the annual Las Vegas nerd convergence Consumer Electronics Show, which kicks off today.

Perhaps assuming that a woman who had a hit with a song called "Paparazzi" would be uniquely qualified to work in the camera biz, a spokeswoman for Polaroid's new parent company PLR IP Holdings told the Wall Street Journal that Ms. Gaga would be helping develop "imaging products" for the all but obsolete corporation.  The fame monster herself issued a statement: "The Haus of Gaga has been developing prototypes in the vein of fashion/technology/photography innovation -- blending the iconic history of Polaroid and instant film with the digital era -- and we are excited to collaborate on these ventures with the Polaroid brand." We have no idea what any of this means, but we're delighted to learn that there's a "haus" of Gaga. And if she can do for instant pictures what she has for wigs, there may be life in the old brand yet.
