Margaret Atwood is one of the most talented writers of our time. Born in Ottawa in 1939, she is the author of more than 25 books, including fiction, poetry and essays.

Her most recent works include the bestselling novel "Alias Grace," which Salon called an "acerbic delight" and a "marvel" as well as one of the five best works of fiction of 1997. Atwood's other books include "Cat's Eye," "The Robber Bride," "The Handmaid's Tale," "Surfacing" and the collections "Wilderness Tips" and "Bluebeard's Egg."

Her latest novel, "The Blind Assassin," involves a delicate weaving of three separate and unusual tales including a science fiction story written by the protagonist's dead sister.
