Priscilla Becker

The poet and schoolteacher reads about the harsh reality in childhood drawings and offers "a translation from English to English."

In this recording, Priscilla Becker reads poems of quiet intensity including "The People in the Picture" (a depiction of the harsh truths rendered in childhood drawings), "Letter After an Estrangement" and "Reformed Cloudwatcher."

Becker lives in New York and has just received her master of fine arts degree from Columbia University. Her poems have appeared in the Paris Review and Western Humanities Review. Some of her latest work will be included in the forthcoming issue of the quarterly literary journal Raritan (Rutgers University).
