Changing delegate count

Published February 4, 2004 8:54PM (EST)

CNN has updated its delegate scorecard, and Kerry now leads the pack with 244, Dean has 121, Edwards 102, Clark 79, Sharpton 5 and Kucinich 2. To clinch the nomination, 2,161 delegates are needed. Note: The delegate count includes "superdelegates," or unpledged, automatic delegates who get a say because they're members of Congress or otherwise part of the party establishment. They can change their allegiance to a candidate, or wait to make their preference known.
