Polls and debates

Super Tuesday's one week away, and the latest polls say: John Kerry leads John Edwards 56 percent to 24 percent in California. In New York, Kerry leads Edwards 58 percent to 22 percent. Al Sharpton has 9 percent.

Edwards believed his strong debate performance two days before Wisconsin helped lift him to a surprisingly-strong second place finish there. And he's hoping two televised debates being held on Feb. 26 and 29 will help close the gaps in the polls before Super Tuesday.
