Not taking any chances

After the president of Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., was shocked by Dick Cheney's nasty attack on John Kerry in a speech that was sold as merely a foreign policy address, the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County set ground rules for the vice president's appearance before the Florida group today.

The group's executive vice president said the federation was "surprised" by Bush-Cheney '04's request to address them, but didn't want any surprises from Cheney when he came to speak.

"It won't be a political rally, there won't be any campaign literature, no display of banners, no bashing of the Democratic candidate or of the Democratic party," the federation's VP said.
