In the polls

The new Zogby International Battleground Poll shows evidence of an Edwards bounce. Kerry leads in almost all of the major swing states, including Florida, Ohio, New Hampshire and Missouri -- all states Bush won in 2000. But most of these results are within the margin of error.

Survey USA also has a number of new state polls out showing Kerry leading in Florida 47 to 44 percent but Bush ahead in Missouri, Arkansas and Virginia. Again, watch out for the margins of error. And according to the latest AP/Ipsos poll, two-thirds of Americans think Bush is decisive, but more than half also think the president is arrogant. Kerry didn't fare as well on the decisiveness issue, but 83 percent think the Massachusetts senator is intelligent. Only 63 percent said that of Bush.
