Those Christ-hating liberals

We learned a couple things from Bob Jones III today, upon receiving this link to a letter he wrote to the president after last week's election. One, God has granted America "a reprieve from the agenda of paganism." We had no idea, but if "pagans" were advocating more sensible solutions to the deficit, the Iraq situation and health care, we'd be right there with them. Also, Mr. Jones says, liberals despise Bush because they "despise his Christ." Did not know that either.

Bob Somerby has been asking the question these last several days, and we'll join him: Just which Democrats despise Christ, despise religion, or have mocked anyone's faith? The Democrats' "religion problem" has been assumed to have doomed Kerry to at least a certain extent, but as Somerby said, "When [religious voters] say that Democrats mock their religion, it's time to ask them who they mean." Supporting the separation of church and state doesn't count as despising Christ or mocking religion, either.
