He's just really into TV

Greg Behrendt, the "Sex and the City" consultant who coauthored the insanely successful dating guide "He's Just Not That Into You" with Liz Tuccillo, will bring his no-nonsense dating advice to daytime TV next fall, according to USA Today. The hourlong talk show, which has been cleared to run on 26 stations owned by Tribune Broadcasting, will naturally focus on relationships.

"The biggest lie of all is 'It's not you' -- because you are the person I'm in the relationship with," the 41-year-old, happily married Behrendt told the Washington Post last year. "The truth is, It isyou." Behrendt has made a mint dispensing the same kind of tough love grandmothers have been handing out freely for years. The thing is, he's a one-shtick pony -- his advice inevitably ends with an order for the woman to move on. The idea of a show in which Behrendt sits on a couch next to a slow parade of agonized daters, telling each in her turn to stop wallowing and get walking, is not promising.

But maybe it's just me. If the show is anywhere near as popular as the book, or Salon's article on the book, Oprah and Ellen better watch their backs.
