Daily Download: "Mattresses Underwater," Colour Revolt

Colour Revolt is a band that apparently used to go by the name Fletcher and played loud math rock, a past that peeks through only in the occasional strangulated shout from singer Jesse Coppenbarger on this otherwise melodic and not at all abrasive or tricky song from their new self-titled EP. I particularly like the opening, where a chiming guitar and a lovely, subtle bell sound blend together creamily. That same keen sense of intertwining parts continues later in the song with some excellent double guitar writing.
