One of the best things about John Cameron Mitchell's wonderful new film "Shortbus" is the music of Scott Matthew, a little-known New York songwriter whose extraordinary performances in the film will hopefully put him on the path to a successful career. Matthew plays quiet chamber pop, the spare arrangements punctuated by trombone and glockenspiel in a way that might be cute if it weren't for the uncommon power of Matthew's voice, a voice so drowning in sorrow and pathos that it pulls you down with it. For songs, videos, playlists and more associated with the film, be sure to check out the Shortbus Salon.
