Exclusive Song of the Day: "Running Away," the Polyphonic Spree

Symphonic pop music for a sunny day.

A band with 20-plus members that dress up in identical clothing and sing symphonic pop songs that sound kind of like outtakes from "Jesus Christ Superstar" isn't exactly begging to be taken seriously. But if you can get past the Polyphonic Spree's goofy trappings, you'll find a band capable of making music that's actually sort of uplifting. Today's song comes from the upcoming album "The Fragile Army" and features all the trademarks of a Polyphonic Spree production: massed vocals, vaguely new-age lyrics, brass fanfares, swirling flutes and driving guitars. It all might seem a bit cheesy -- hell, it is cheesy -- but if you're in the right mood, it's sort of awesome too.
