It’s Oct. 8, and the temperature in Washington right now is a slightly muggy 85 degrees. Before the afternoon is out, we may break the record high for the day — 88 degrees — set in 1931.

But we’ve got to look at the bright side, and we will, just as soon as we get the sweat out of our eyes: As Think Progress notes, Fox News says it’s “vital” for the ice cap to melt because that’s the way to make the Arctic’s oil reserves more accessible for human use.
