Since its early days as the boomer soft-rock destination of choice, VH1 has always loved a good countdown. This week, you can enjoy the nostalgic revelry of the network's five-part countdown "100 Greatest Songs of the '90s." (Tonight, hour one airs at 8 p.m., hour two at 9 p.m. and hour three at 10 p.m. EST.) Remember how heartbroken (in an obsessive way) you were when REM's "Losing My Religion" so nicely captured your stalker woes? Remember when you believed that Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" smelled just like you, in all your mopey, bedheaded, grunge glory? (That one will definitely be in the top five.) Remember when the Nine Inch Nails brought us all "Closer" to God? Thank you, VH1, for taking us on a wild and woolly tour of our emotionally overwrought pasts. P.S. If you put Shania Twain in the top 20, you're dead to us.

Also…

Enjoy new episodes of the fall shows while you still can, folks, because the schedule is really starting to feel the effects of the writers' strike! A new episode of "Gossip Girl" airs at 9 p.m. EST on the CW, while the last episode (for a while, at least) of "Journeyman" airs at 10 p.m. EST on NBC. Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughan star in "Dodgeball" (8 p.m. EST on FX), while"Wired Science" examines digital books and spaceships (8 p.m. EST on PBS, check listings). And if you're in the mood to deck the halls, don't miss "Christmas With the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Featuring Sissel" (9 p.m. EST on PBS, check listings).
