Margaret Atwood, responding to the question of whether she owns a Sarah Palin action figure:

No, I am afraid of what the actions would be. Read the book by Antonia Fraser called "The Warrior Queens." You will see that no woman ruler has been successful if she has been an advocate for women at large. Not one, ever. It’s the Thatcher model, which is, "All women should stay home and take care of their babies except me."

You might also remember her as the founding editor of Shapely Prose (2007-2010). Kate's essays have appeared in the anthologies Madonna & Me, Yes Means Yes, Feed Me, and Airmail: Women of Letters. She holds an M.F.A. in fiction from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a B.A. in English from University of Toronto, and is currently at work on a Ph.D. in creative writing from Bath Spa University
