Who needs a gender-neutral Oscar race? As this sweet but all-too-short celebration of the women up for Academy Awards this year from the Women’s Media Center makes clear, Oscar is still mostly a man’s milieu. We do, however, totally rock it in the set decoration and costume design. So sit back, enjoy Carly Simon’s Oscar winning “Let the River Run,” and enjoy a whole three minutes of the modest achievements of women in the best films of 2009.
